Susan Allen, CPA, CITP – 2023 40 Under 40 Honoree

Senior Director, Tax Agency Relationship Management
Dayforce
Dayforce – Global HCM Software | Dayforce

Career Highlights:
As a life-long learner and CPA profession advocate, I aim to drive progression in areas such as technology, environmental and social governance, and tax administration.

I currently work at Dayforce and am responsible for overseeing tax operations and supporting clients with tax compliance across 8,000+ tax jurisdictions. I work to inspire and guide my team through many exciting transformation initiatives, such as automation (artificial intelligence) of our quarter-end reconciliation processes and tax engine modernization. Pulling on my accounting background, I’m driving clear data-driven metrics, where our tax organization makes meaningful improvements to improve our clients’ overall compliance health. I’m passionate about decreasing our carbon footprint, driving down unnecessary printing and partnering with tax agencies on ways to work more efficiently via electronic and modernization efforts.

Prior to joining Dayforce, I served as a tax subject matter expert, regularly publishing guidance on trending professional issues and quoted in media sources such as The New York Times, CNN, Forbes, and CNBC. I advocated for taxpayers and the public interest by providing suggestions for improvements to tax agencies. I also served as an accuracy editor and product manager for a start-up software development company that helped tax practitioners efficiently deal with IRS tax controversy issues and I worked many years providing tax and advisory services to individuals and businesses.

What are you doing to make a difference in the profession, your community, the world?

As a founding member of Guilford Women for Good, I aim to nurture more kindness and generosity to support our community. We work together to expand our outreach and give resources to local charities. One charity we’ve supported is making a significant impact on ending childhood hunger in our community.
